Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy was a prominent Soviet writer and public figure, who descended from Tolstoy family. He wrote in many genres but mainly specialized in science fiction and historical novels.

Tolstoy was an author of socio-psychological, historical and science fiction novels, as well as many short stories and journalistic works. Also, he penned numerous children's stories, including "The Golden Key" or "The Adventures of Buratino".
